I spent hours going over the list of majors at USU. There were only about 2 or 3 majors that even sort of interested me, but I always found significant reasons as to why this wasnt the right way for me to go.
One of those 2 or 3 was Photography. I love photo. I took a couple classes in high school and have recently rediscovered my passion for it. I really enjoy it. My reason for not wanting to major in it is this: USU makes you major in art and have an emphasis in photography, or any of the other art fields. So, even if I was in the photo program, I would still have to do painting, drawing, ceramics, all these things that IM NO GOOD AT. Im the kind of person that needs to focus on my goals or else its just not gonna happen. So I crossed photo off my list of possible majors. But i just kept going back to it, because I enjoy it so much.
About a month ago I started thinking about doing an art institute instead of USU, because that way, I could do photo and focus on just that. I looked at several and I finally found one!
Its called the New York Institute of Photography. They are the oldest photo school in the nation, and they offer home based study, which is great, because im happy where im at right now here in little logan. I will (re)learn all the basics of photography, as well as more in depth info about the each of the different types of photography, landscape, wedding, portrait, glamor, underwater, you name it. And here is something im really excited about: they teach the business side of photo. My ultimate dream job would be to work for National Geographic, or something like that, but where im at in life, I dont see that happening anytime soon. So my next choice would be to have my own photography business. AND its affordable! Im really very excited. Its a wonderful feeling (and probably a little overdue) to have some direction.
In other, not so exciting news: My cousin Jenny and her family are away for a week and im watching their two little dogs. They are soooo cute, but they wake me up at 6 in the morning to go to the bathroom. And TWICE now they have pooped inside on the carpet RIGHT after I brought them back inside the house. They have sooo much energy. If I ever get a dog, it will be an old, lazy dog.
